Three-Gallon Glazed Redware Jar, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, tapered jar with large squared rim and incised line near shoulder, the interior and exterior covered in a heavy lead glaze over a green ground with heavy orange mottling throughout. Impressed sideways "3" on rim. Very nice condition. Glazed exterior surface survives in remarkable near mint condition, difficult-to-find on Galena redware. Some minor wear to rim including a shallow chip on interior of rim. Some flakes to interior base. H 11 1/8".
