Glazed Redware Lidded Jar with Slip Decoration, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, semi-ovoid jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, the surface decorated with a dipped yellow slip over mottled green and orange clay. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Includes original lid with dipped slip and lead-glazed surface. Glazed surface survives in excellent condition. Jar with very tight 6 1/2" line to body. A restored 1" x 3/8" rim chip along with a few other much smaller restored rim chips. Flakes and wear to edge of lid. H (excluding lid) 10 3/8".
