Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Cherries Decoration, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG," circa 1880, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of three large cherries and a flower extending from a leafy stem. An unusually-small jug for this Cowden design. Sone fry to cobalt. Horizontal crack in base of handle. Two very small spout chips. Small stone ping on reverse. H 10 3/4".
