Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cream Jar, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN, / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of three tulips extending from a group of leaves. Four nicks to one handle. Minor rim chip. Two approximately 1" in-the-firing chips to underside. Small stone ping near base under one handle. Glazed-over stone ping on reverse. Some spots of fry to cobalt. H 11 1/2".
