Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed "spitting" tulip decoration. Excellent condition. Two in-the-firing vertical 2" lines extending from base under one handle, which do not go through to interior. Two spots of fry to cobalt. Small handle chip. Expected minor wear to inner rim where a lid would rest. H 11 3/4".
