Miller, Newport, PA, circa 1865, ovoid jar with flattened rim, decorated with a brushed cobalt floral design with an unusual pinwheel-like blossom composed of numerous brushstrokes. Impressed "1 1/2" on reverse. Inverted 2 1/2" Y-shaped hairline from rim on reverse, and an inverted 1 3/8" Y-shaped hairline from rim on front. Rim chips. What appears to be a crack extending diagonally across the front of the jar is actually a discolored marking, which does not go through to the interior. H 8 3/4".
