Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to D.P. Shenfelder, Reading, PA, circa 1870, semi-ovoid pitcher with tooling to midsection and collar, the rim with pronounced, squared molding. Body of pitcher decorated with a sweeping, flowering vine motif featuring graduated leaves and open-centered blossoms. Collar decorated on each side with stylized flower blossom motifs. Spout decorated with dashed cobalt brushwork. Cobalt highlight surrounding lower handle terminal. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. Pitcher with a 1" chip to interior of spout. Molding at base of collar with a tiny chip and some extremely minor wear.
