Rare Stoneware Butter Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "WELLS & RICHARDS / BERKS CO. PA," Reading, Pennsylvania, circa 1840, cylindrical form with squared rim and large lug handles, decorated on the front with flowering stems emanating from the handles, and on the reverse with an alternating swag design. Heavy chipping to interior of rim. Additional chips to exterior of rim. Surface crazing/lines to interior and exterior of crock, including underside. Minor base nicks. H 4 1/4" ; Diam. 7 3/4".
