Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "D.P. SHENFELDER. / READING. PA," circa 1870, highly-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed floral design featuring open-center blossoms and graduated leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A shallow 1 3/8" flake to top of spout. Some bubbling to cobalt. A small in-the-firing contact mark to front and reverse. Staining to surface. H 15 3/4".
