Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "SAM'L I. IRVINE, / NEWVILLE, PA., circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a vertical tulip motif on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed at shoulder with circular Irvine maker's mark. An area of heavy wear to midsection on front. A lime ping to base of floral decoration on revere. Minor traces of old paint to surface. H 12 3/4".
