Three-Gallon Iron-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Impressed Hearts Decoration, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," attributed to Frederick Carpenter at the Edmands Pottery, Charlestown, MA, circa 1812-1827, highly ovoid jug with footed base, heavily-tooled spout, and ribbed handle, featuring dipped iron oxide decoration to the upper and lower body. Shoulder impressed with three hearts below the "CHARLESTOWN" maker's mark. A slump to spout. A few in-the-firing contact marks to reverse. Old varnish or residue to surface. What appears to be a crack near the base on the front is actually not. H 16".
