Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Jackson Courthouse, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1885, tapering jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "A.M. CARSON & CO. / DEALERS IN GEN. / MERCHAN / BUTTER, EGGS & POULTR[Y] / SPECIALTIES. / JACKSON COURTHOUS[E] / W.VA." A 3/4" U-shaped surface crack at base on jar's proper left side. A number of minor chips and nicks to interior of rim and inner rim for lid. "Y" missing in the word, "POULTRY." "E" missing in the word, "COURTHOUSE." H 8".
