Rare and Fine Small-Sized Stoneware Canning Jar with Elaborate Freehand Stripe Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapering jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim and tooled accents to midsection and shoulder, brush-decorated from top-to-bottom with eight alternating straight and wavy stripes. Desirable size and strong, top-to-bottom freehand brushwork. Excellent condition with only minor flaws. Two minor nicks to shoulder molding. A minor in-the-firing ping to interior of rim. A miniscule amount of wear to inner wax sealer rim. A minor glazed-over nick to bottom edge. Some staining. H 6 1/4".
