Fine Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with four straight and wavy freehand stripes extending from the top to the bottom. An excellent example featuring unusually wide stripes. Very nice condition with a minor chip to interior of rim, a few small in-the-firing pings, some minor staining, and a slight lean to rim. What appears to be a faint vertical line to the proper right side of the jar's front is actually an in-the-making scratch to the clay. H 8".
