Fine Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Stenciled "HAMILTON / [&] / JONES," Greensboro, PA, circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring six freehand stripes and unusual Hamilton & Jones block letter stenciling with freehand ampersand at center. Desirable top-to-bottom stenciled and freehand decoration featuring good color. A 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" X-shaped line on underside, not visible on interior. A small chip to shoulder molding on proper right side of jar. Some staining to surface. A small in-the-firing contact mark to front of jar at center including a brownish discolored area. H 9 7/8".
