Fine Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Pinwheel Decoration, Stenciled "Hamilton & Jones.," Greensboro, PA, circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling above a stenciled geometric design and a series of stenciled pinwheels. Two freehand stripes to upper body. A 1 1/8" in-the-firing contact mark to the "s" in "Jones." A few other minor in-the-firing contact marks to surface, including two to interior of rim. A 1/2" chip to bottom edge of rim. A 5/8" base chip. Minor staining. H 8".
