Scarce Small-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Upstate SC origin, possibly Rich Williams, Gowensville area, Greenville County, late 19th or early 20th century, semi-ovoid jug with flaring spout and wide strap handle, the surface covered in a dark-olive alkaline glaze. The similarity of the glaze and clay to marked Rich Williams canning jars offers the possibility that this jug was also by his hand. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a few in-the-firing surface fissures to midsection. H 5 1/4".
