Scarce Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Alkaline Glaze, Edgefield District, SC origin, second quarter 19th century, small-sized, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and two applied vertical handles, the surface covered in a mottled light-brown to gray-green alkaline glaze. Shoulder area with some surface wear as well as a small, circular in-the-firing contact mark. Otherwise excellent condition. H 6 7/8".
