Rare and Fine Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to the Collin Rhodes Pottery, Shaw's Creek, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, highly ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a daisy plant with scalloped leaves, the blossom surrounding the fraction, "1/2," denoting one half gallon. Gray-green alkaline-glazed ground. Exceptional size with strong decoration. Provenance: Leland Little Auctions. Excellent condition with a minor spout nick. H 9".
