Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "12 LBS," attributed to Riedinger & Caire, Poughkeepsie, NY, circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Heavy chipping and wear to rim. A long curving crack from rim on front and reverse. Some fry to cobalt. Staining to surface. Chips to proper left handle. A small in-the-firing iron ping to proper right side of crock's front. H 10 3/4".
