Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "E. FOWLER / BEAVER . PA," circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with an undulating vine bearing two large blossoms. Underscored cobalt-scrip "3" below. Freehand stripe below rim. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Heavy wear and staining to surface. Chipping to proper left handle. Proper right handle with wear, two minor nicks, and a short line. Wear to interior of rim and inner rim for lid. A 1 3/4" in-the-firing base chip. Underside is raised, keeping the jar from sitting flat. 13".
