One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1830, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, squared rim, and arched tab handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a triple-blossomed tulip plant. Several cobalt dashes below each handle. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Various thin lines descending from rim. Heavy crazing to base area. A Y-shaped line to underside. A large network of surface lines to interior, only a very small portion of which is visible on exterior. Two small chips to one handle. A small chip to opposing handle. A minor nick to foot. Traces old gray paint to shoulder on reverse. H 10".
