Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, attributed to David Parr, Jr., Richmond, VA, circa 1875, both of cylindrical form, decorated around the shoulder with brushed swags. Larger jar impressed with two two-gallon capacity marks. Smaller with a large Y-shaped line to bottom half of jar, a base chip, minor base wear, traces of old green paint to shoulder, two rim flakes, an in-the-firing ping to interior of rim, and whitish residue to top of rim. Larger with two small rim chips, some surface residue, and in-the-firing surface flaws. H (of smaller) 8".
