Glazed Redware Bowl with Multi-Colored Slip Decoration, origin unknown, likely European, 19th century, dramatically flared form, the interior decorated with horizontal bands of yellow slip overlain with vertical drips of copper slip, all under a clear lead glaze. Related in its decorative slip treatment to various European and Shenandoah Valley regional redware bowls, most notably pieces by the Adam family in Hagerstown, MD and New Market, VA. Provenance: Recently found in Florida. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Diam. 9 3/8" ; H 4 1/8".
