Fine Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Double-Bird and Foliate Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, NY", circa 1875, large-sized, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, the front decorated with a very large spray of leaves and dotted trails surrounding two crossed birds. Shoulder incised "4 4 4." Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., March 25, 2017, lot 402. A thin, tight crack extending from shoulder to base on reverse. A 1 1/8" rim chip to left side of crock's front. A chip to interior of rim. A small chip to top of rim and exterior of rim on reverse. H 13".
