Fine "AR" Salt-Glazed Stoneware Mug, Westerwald, Germany origin, circa 1710, ovoid form with footed base and heavily-tooled collar, decorated at the midsection with a sprig-molded seal featuring the relief, cobalt-highlighted initials, "AR," below a crown. Combed stem incising throughout with sprig-molded floral and leaf motifs. Provenance: Excavated in Charleston, SC. A 1/2" Y-shaped line from rim. Some wear to handle. Some staining to body. H 6".
