Unusual Glazed Redware Jar with Coggled Hearts Motif, possibly Southern U.S., second or third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, decorated with an inverted coggled hearts motif around the midsection flanked by wavy incised combing. Lead-glazed surface decorated with four brushed manganese stripes against a mottled reddish ground. Rim chips. A thin 1 7/8" crack from rim adjacent to a 3/4" reglued flake on interior of rim beside a 3/8" flake. Some light surface wear and some surface residue. H 8 7/8".
