Rare Glazed Redware "Moon" Jug, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, cylindrical jug with distinctive tooled spout, the lead-glazed body decorated around with three large slip circles against a mottled green-and-orange ground. A 2 7/8" long flake to one side. Some in-the-firing glaze spalling to shoulder on opposite side. Minor surface wear. A 2 1/4" Y-shaped line at base. A very shallow 1 1/4" chip to underside at edge, possibly in-the-making. A horizontal hairline to handle, which does not extend entirely through handle. A tiny glaze flake to handle. H 10 1/2".
