Salt-Glazed Stoneware Canteen-Form Jug with Butler, KY Advertising, Midwestern origin, late 19th century, molded jug with flattened sides, featuring the stenciled cobalt inscription, "PACKED / AND / WARRANTED / PURE BY THE / OLD DEXTER / DIST.CO / DISTILLERS / BUTLER.KY." Opposite side with embossed patent date, "PAT AUG 11 1891." Shoulder impressed by the cobalt-highlighted inscription, "GENUINE HAS OUR DISTILLERY SEAL ON CORK." Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11".
