Bellarmine Stoneware Jug, probably Frechen, Germany, 16th or 17th century, highly-ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, the neck decorated with a sprig-molded face of a bearded man. Belly decorated with a sprig-molded seal depicting abstract designs. Iron-dipped surface with overlying salt glaze. A shallow 1 1/4" chip to underside at edge. Other small base chips. A tiny spout nick and minor spout wear. A small chip to side of handle. Some light surface wear. H 8 1/2".
