Unusual Slip-Decorated Redware Jar with Lid, American, probably PA origin, 19th century, vasiform jar with footed base and narrow mouth, the surface decorated with alternating yellow-slip strips and manganese-slip spots, all under a clear lead glaze. Includes original domed lid, decorated with yellow-and-manganese-slip spots. Jar in very nice condition with two glazed-over base chips, wear to rim, some light surface wear, and a short in-the-firing line to interior of rim, not visible on exterior. Lid with heavy chipping to edge, losses to flange on the lid's underside, two small chips and wear to finial, the finial possibly reglued. H (including lid) 8 1/2".
