Two Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Norton Family, Bennington, VT origin, circa 1823-1833, a one-gallon ovoid jar with brushed floral motif, stamped "L. NORTON. & Co.," circa 1823-1828, paired with a two-gallon ovoid jar with brushed floral motif, stamped "L. NORTON / BENNINGTON," circa 1828-1833. Shorter jar with large crack from rim on front, extending onto reverse, and fry to cobalt. Other jar with an inverted 3 3/4" Y-shaped surface line on front, two minor chips to inner rim for lid, restoration to end of one handle, and a restored 1" rim chip on reverse with a restored Y-shaped crack descending from it onto underside, part of which also continues horizontal onto front at midsection. H (of shorter) 9 1/2".
