Rockingham Presentation Pitcher with Anchor Pattern, attributed to John L. Rue and Company, South Amboy, NJ, circa 1870, molded pitcher with relief anchor motif, the surface decorated with a mottled brown-and-blue glaze, the front featuring the applied name, "MRS / S/ MARKS," in white clay. White-glazed interior. Letter "A" in "MARKS" missing. A 5" crack from rim. A spider crack on underside, including one crack extending onto base of pitcher. A long, thin crack extending from one anchor-decorated side across reverse side of pitcher and onto opposite side of pitcher. This crack adjoins a thin vertical crack to body of pitcher underneath handle. H 10 7/8".
