Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1850, approximately one to one-and-a-half-gallon ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled accents to rim and base of collar, decorated around the midsection with four horizontally-brushed tulip motifs. Garland decoration to sides of collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A transitional piece in Remmey's tenure in Philadelphia, with decoration, thin-walled construction, and absence of Albany slip on the interior dating it to the mid 19th century. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small glazed-over ping below collar on side of pitcher. H 10 1/2".
