Lidded Stoneware Butter Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, cylindrical crock with squared rim, incising banding to shoulder, and extruded lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with double-stemmed floral motifs. Floral decoration below handles and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Includes Remmely lid, probably original to the crock, with swag decoration and brushed highlight around knob. Crock with numerous thin surface lines to rim area and one short hairline. Underside with a semi-circular crack and other thin cracks. Lid with two adjacent reglued flakes to edge on underside, measuring a total of 2", other chips to bottom edge, and two small chips to knob. H (excluding lid) 6" ; Diam. (at rim) 10 1/8".
