Extremely Rare Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "WEBB & KELLOGG / ERIE PA," circa 1861-1864, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated stylized, brushed floral motif at the midsection. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Only the second example bearing this mark that we have ever offered. A 9 1/2" spider crack from rim on reverse. A 5 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. A 4 1/2" crack from rim on front. A 2" line at base, continuing 1 1/2" onto underside. Base chips. H 10 1/2".
