Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to S. A. Colvin & Sons, Jane Lew, WV, circa 1885, large-sized, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a flowering plant bearing striped leaves and a blossom surrounded by dashed accents. Shoulder inscribed with a script "3" below a brushed wavy stripe. A top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse, extending across underside. Rim secured with a wire. Minor surface wear. H 11 1/8".
