Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "Haught & Co. / Shinnston. W.Va.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded, tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring "Haught & Co." maker's stenciling below a series of graduated freehand stripes. Base with large script "2" flanked by dashes. This jar's stenciled maker's mark was used after Knox was removed from the partnership, his name being blocked out in cobalt at the beginning of the stencil. A Y-shaped crack on underside, the tail of which continues up to midsection on right side of jar's front. A small chip to shoulder molding. A shallow chip to top of rim. Two small in-the-firing pings to surface. Staining. H 11 3/4".
