One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with horizontal tulip motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Includes loosely-fitting, swag-decorated lid, possibly original to the crock. A small chip and minuscule nick to one handle. Two rim chips, measuring 1 1/8" and 7/8". An in-the-firing iron ping to one side. Lid with two chips and a nick to flange on underside, as well as a small chip to knob. H (excluding lid) 5 3/8" ; Diam. 9 1/2". Diam. (of lid) 10 1/4".
