Fine One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Clover Decoration, Stamped "P. HERRMANN," Baltimore, MD, circa 1875, ovoid pitcher with flared collar and tooled rim, decorated around the body with five stemmed clover motifs. Collar decorated with upswept swags. Cobalt brushwork flanks the spout and highlights the lower handle terminal. Impressed below the spout with a partial Peter Herrmann one-and-a-half-gallon stamp. Among the finest examples of signed Peter Herrmann stoneware that we have ever offered. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 12".
