Exceptional Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Stein with Incised Birds Motif, Westerwald, Germany origin, 19th century, cylindrical form with tooling to shoulder and base, lavishly-decorated with four incised birds flanking floral medallions and two candlestick motifs flanking two medallions depicting lidded urns. Cobalt spot decoration to rim and base. A small rim chip to shoulder. A 3/4" in-the-firing base chip, which is partially glazed over. Missing pewter lid. H 8".
