Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stenciled "Hamilton & Jones," Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1870, ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with an undulating vine motif, the stenciled signature, "Hamilton & Jones," and a bold-faced stenciled "2," flanked by stenciled oak leaves, all interspersed with straight and wavy freehand stripes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Some minor surface and staining. Faint spider lines to base area. H 14 1/2".
