Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Canning Jug with Machinery Advertising, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, cylindrical jug with wide-mouthed spout and applied handle, featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising, "THE GEO. A. SMITH MACHINERY CO. / BOOT, & SHOE MACHINERY, / DUPLICATE PARTS, LEATHER, & FINDINGS. / 415 & 417 ARC." A long thin line extending from shoulder to base on front. Crazing to shoulder and spout. A shallow 5/8" chip to interior of rim. Some in-the-firing glaze loss to interior of rim. H 11 1/2".
