One-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1865, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed "spitting tulip" motif extending across the front. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Desirable size and form. A 1 1/4" rim chip on reverse. Light wear to handles. Some light staining. H 6 3/4" ; Diam. (across top) 8 1/2".
