Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Two-Sided Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated on the front with a slip-trailed foliate motif and on the reverse with a distinctive chicken pecking corn motif featuring scale-like feathering. Few examples of Fort Edward stoneware are known with decorations on both sides. Rim chips, including a 1 3/8" flake to rim on reverse. H 10 3/4".
