Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD / FORT EDWARD. N.Y.," circa 1865-1867, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with ringed neck and spotted breast, perched on a scrolled branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Essentially as-made condition with some fry to cobalt and minor wear to right handle. H 12".
