Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, one stenciled "G.W. SCHMIDT. / WINEST & LIQUORS. / 95 / FIFTH AVE., / PITTSBURGH.;" the other stenciled "THOS. E. POLLARD. / WHOLESALE LIQUOR / DEALER. / COR. PENN & 11th. STS / PITTSBURGH. PA." Schmidt jug with crazing to shoulder, in-the-firing chipping along bottom edge, a glazed-over chip to top of spout, and some shallow, glazed-over chipping to edge of handle. Pollard jug in excellent condition with some light handle wear. H (of Pollard jug) 11 7/8".
