Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, one stenciled "GETTY & CO. / WHOLESALE LIQUOR / DEALERS. / 180 & 182 FIRST / PITTSBURGH. PA;" the other stenciled "JOHN SAUEREISEN / & CO. / WHOLESALE / LIQUOR DEALERS. / 426 FITH(sic) AVENUE. / PITTSBURGH. PA." Both with freehand stripe decoration. Smaller jug with area of heavy surface scratches to side of jug, a small glazed-over spout chip, and a small post-firing spout chip. Larger jug with two minor spout chips and some light surface wear. H (of taller jug) 11 1/4".
