Two One-Gallon Stoneware Jars with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, one with freehand stripe decoration, stenciled "DAUB & SULZNER / GROCERY / & / MEAT MARKET / 204 SMITHFIELD ST. / PiTTS.;" the other stenciled "FROM / HENRY SCHORNHERS / GROCERIES / 43 BEDFORD. / AVE / PITTS. PA." Meat market jar with restored top-to-bottom crack on front, which is unrestored on underside. Restoration includes touch-up to some cobalt. Additionally, a tiny nick to inner rim for lid. Other jar with an approximately 5" diagonal crack from rim, some faintness to cobalt at base stenciling, staining to reverse, and a minuscule nick to shoulder molding. H (of taller jar) 9 3/4".
