Two Stoneware Jars with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a one-and-a-half-gallon jar with freehand decoration, stenciled "W.D. COOPER / & BRO. / NO. 7. DIAMOND / PITTS," including diamond-shaped stenciling; a two-gallon jar with stenciled rose and freehand stripe decoration, stenciled "W.D. COOPER & BRO. / NO. 7 / DIAMOND / PITTS." Shorter jar with crack from top-to-bottom on reverse, extending across underside, and diagonally up front several inches. Despite the long crack, the jar was never broken into two pieces. A 1 1/4" rim chip to side of taller jar. Taller jar also with blurriness to stenciling, some staining, and light surface wear. H (of shorter jar) 8 3/4".
